Three people have had a lucky escape from a fire in Thorney Close which police believe to be an arson attack.
The trio were asleep inside the house on Torquay Road when a car fire spread through the garage and into the property.
Police are treating the blaze which took hold just after 4am yesterday as an arson.
A 46 year-old man arrested in connection with the fire, has been released under investigation.
A Volkswagen Scirocco parked on the property's driveway is thought to have been deliberately set on fire, with the blaze spreading to inside the garage - where a Mercedes was parked - and then to the house itself.
Three people inside the house, who were asleep at the time of the incident, are uninjured after being awoken by alarmed neighbours and were safely removed before the fire service arrived.
Enquiries into the fire are ongoing.
