Carillion condemned by MPs

The directors and accountants at bankrupt construction giant Carillion have been condemned by MPs.

A joint report from the work and pensions and business committees says there was a "rotten corporate culture" at the company which went out of business in January.

It led to the work on the Vaux site in Sunderland halting and the loss of thousands of jobs across the country.

They say accountancy tricks were used to deceive investors about the health of the firm.
